Komuram Bheem Asifabad District Agriculture Officer Suspended Amid Urea Shortage Crisis
In a significant administrative action, the Telangana government has suspended R. Srinivas Rao, the In-Charge District Agriculture Officer (DAO) for Komuram Bheem Asifabad, due to allegations of gross negligence in the distribution of urea fertilizer. The suspension order was issued on Saturday by Dr. B. Gopi, Director of the Agriculture Department.
The controversy centers around the allocation of 400 tonnes of urea to private traders, a decision that has exacerbated the ongoing fertilizer shortage in the region. Farmers have reported long queues at distribution centers, with many accusing traders of diverting stocks to neighboring Maharashtra, thereby depriving local cultivators of essential supplies during the critical sowing season.

This suspension follows a previous complaint lodged against Rao in April 2025, where he was accused of obtaining his position through a fraudulent community certificate, allegedly availing reservations for over 28 years. The agriculture department had raised concerns regarding the authenticity of his credentials, leading to an internal inquiry.

The current suspension underscores the government's commitment to accountability and transparency within its administrative ranks, particularly concerning the management of critical resources like fertilizers that directly impact the agricultural community.
