Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has ordered RTO
officials to conduct continuous inspections on school buses. He wants to seize
school buses that are more than 15 years old. As part of the inspections of
school buses, fitness, insurance, and RC should be checked. He ordered to
submit a report on 25,000 school buses across the state. As part of the
inspections of school buses, he advised the officials not to conduct
inspections during school timings or when students are in the buses.
He instructed the officials to create awareness about road
safety in schools and colleges for students. He instructed the transport
department officials to set up a traffic awareness park in every school. He
instructed the transport department officials to talk to the education
department to make it mandatory in the newly built integrated residential
schools as well. He wanted to take UNICEF's cooperation for this. Similarly,
private vehicles that are more than 15 years old should be given a green tax special
drive.
Ponnam commented that the Telangana government has brought a
revolutionary EV policy to reduce pollution in a way that is unmatched anywhere
else in the country. He suggested that people should be made aware at every
electric vehicle showroom. He wanted to enter into agreements with
representatives of EV companies to set up traffic awareness parks in schools
with CSR funds. He advised the officials not to delay the implementation of the
vehicle driver. He suggested that the newly arrived Assistant Motor Vehicle
Inspector employees should be specially trained to be used in enforcement.
Minister Ponnam revealed that the Transport Department will
get a special logo. He revealed that it will be unveiled at public victories.
He said that special vehicles are going to be provided to Transport Department
officials. He also said that tabs will be given for data entry. Minister Ponnam
ordered the officials to submit a report within 15 days on the performance of
employees in 62 Transport Department offices across the state, new buildings
required for offices, infrastructure, drinking water, toilets, technology, use
of CCTV cameras, etc.
